"You are like light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid.  No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl; instead it is put on the lampstand, where it gives light for
everyone in the house.
In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven."

Matthew 5: 14 - 16

The feast of All Saints/All Souls is a time to remember the community both Christians who are alive to worship today and also those who have died faithful to God's truth. Our reading mentions not hiding our 'light' under a bowl. When we remember saints we also remember the kind of good things that they did such as leading a life of prayer or healing the sick. What kind of light do you shine before people?
The reading is very famous - you might hear people speak of 'hiding your light under a bushel', from the King James Version of the Bible.
